SS 16 Collection
The photograph of a woman, standing at the shore of a lake somewhere in Florida. It is a calm summer day sometime in 1938. The woman is Anni Albers, an American textile artist and print maker, the first designer to have a one-person exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City 10 years later. On this summer day, she is the woman who escaped the stress and excitement of her daily life to a tranquil and peaceful place. Standing at the shore of the lake with her eyes closed, being in the moment.
Vivian Graf translates the peacefulness and tranquility of this moment into a casual Spring/Summer collection which reflects a calm day at the lake, the excape from daily life. She combines it with inspiration drawn from Anni Albers‘ work as a textile artist. Her weaving samples inspire Vivian Graf to create a three dimensional look and feel of the collection pieces. Therefore, she mixes fancy 100% cotton with classic cotton yarns in textural stitch patterns. The finer gauge pieces are made out of beautiful cotton/silk/viscose blend yarn with a degrade dye.

Vivian Graf’s collections translate art into multidimensional knitwear. She is playing with knit techniques and patterns, creating unique pieces that show her interpretation of art, photography and culture.
Each collection is its own universe, inspired by a specific piece of art, photography or culture. It shows Vivian Graf’s vision, her ability to create knit pieces that bridge the gap between art and fashion.
Vivian Graf’s collections are made of precious Italian yarns and traditional craftsmanship. Every piece is handmade in Germany and Switzerland, allowing the pieces to be of highest quality.
Vivian Graf founded her namesake knitwear label in Autumn/Winter 2014, having returned to her roots in Switzerland, after graduating from Parsons the New School of Design in New York and working in knitwear design and production for well-known designer labels in New York and Berlin.
